The 6-Day
Machame Route is one of the most popular and scenic routes to climb Mount
Kilimanjaro (5,895m), Africa’s highest peak. Known as the “Whiskey Route,”
Machame offers a challenging yet rewarding climb through rainforest, moorland,
alpine desert, and Arctic summit zones.
This route
is ideal for adventurous first-time climbers or experienced trekkers, offering excellent
acclimatization, spectacular scenery, and high summit success rates. Climbers
reach Uhuru Peak and descend via the Mweka Route, finishing at Mweka Gate.

You will be picked up
from the airport. From there you will go to the hotel in Moshi for an
orientation on your trek. Your guides will be there to provide you with details
on your trek and will also check your trekking gear.

The trek
begins at Machame Gate, where climbers complete registration and meet their
mountain crew. The trail enters a dense tropical rainforest, filled with giant

Machame Camp, surrounded by thick forest and mountain mist.

for rest and preparation for the summit attempt.

Rainforest

celebration, descend directly to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.
